Created in 2006 for a family residence in Vernon BC.  the design of architectural ceramics in this warm and beautiful kitchen reflects what this family is about…  the love of cooking and the believe in sustainable food. It was such a pleasure to create all these customs tiles with veggies, nuts and herbs.

  • Feature wall and floor: Design & production done by Carolina Sánchez de Bustamante

All the tiles are handmade, starting from a slab of clay. The accent tiles are are designed with herbs, veggies and nuts.

The ‘La Cucina’ project was designed around the wishes of the clients. Using the backsplash and the border around the island countertop, to showcase how this family enjoys the time in the kitchen.. food and cooking are their passion.

Specially made tiles with the shape of fruits, veggies and nut, surrounded by tile in grout.

Accent tiles with shape of different nuts, completed created with clay.. this are cashew nuts.

The mural is framed by 3″x3″ painted tiles with herbs designs and sculpted 3″x3″ tiles with nuts designs. The shelf above the stove is also made from clay.

Above and below images.. In collaboration with the clients, this riverbed floor was created to finalize the project. The salmons are done in clay and later installed surrounded by commercial stone tiles… It was great fun to do..!
