Created in 2017 for a Kelowna family missing the colours of California architecture.  This is another of those cases where the artist was given the freedom to create… Thanks so much..! Inspired by Californian-Spanish designs and our surrounding in the Okanagan, this garden fountain is a statement to nature. Because all the different wave mural covering the three cylindrical shapes of the fountain, I started with a simple maquette to understand the curvature and joinery of the different section for seamless installation. Considering the Canadian winters, the tiles are frost proof, cut in the different wavy shapes, glazed and re-fired. We install our own projects, so we can take care of the final details. Hand glazed frost proof ceramic tiles – clay and glazes – 10ft.Wx12ft.Dx4ft.H

Below is the simple maquette I prepare for the client to see and understand what the fountain could look like.. Because many aspects were to be considered before to start working with the material, this maquette helps us to review the specs and details, as well as to accomplished more accurately the project.. Taking the time at the beginning helps to avoid issues later on… it is really worth it..!

And here is the final project… So grateful at the opportunity..!!

The client was after an Art Deco style for the home facade.. Inspire by the Art Deco building in Miami, was designed and created a line of handmade small tile to insert in an existing groove in the upper facade.

The custom made fountain sits among a Japanese garden.

In this image, the fountain can be seen within the context of the garden and the home. The front door was painted to follow the colour scheme.

Included in the project design were a set of murals for the property entrance pillars.
